Membership & Growth Coodinator

Part-Time (20 hours per week)

Berkshire Innovation Center

The Berkshire Innovation Center (BIC) is a nonprofit innovation and workforce development organization based in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  The BIC serves as a focal point for collaboration among startups, manufacturers, educators, entrepreneurs, students, and industry leaders across emerging technology sectors including advanced manufacturing, clean energy, robotics, aerospace, life sciences, and advanced optics.

More than a building, the BIC is a growing ecosystem designed to connect people, ideas, technology, and opportunity.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, relationship-driven Membership & Growth Coordinator to help grow, strengthen, and energize the BIC membership community.  This is a highly interactive, outward-facing role for a strong relationship builder who enjoys connecting with people, identifying opportunities, building partnerships, and helping organizations grow.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing day-to-day relationship management with longer-term strategic thinking.

This role will work closely with the leadership team to support member engagement, expand memebership and sponsorship revenue, and help shape the next generation of the BIC's membership model.

Beyond relationship management, this role will also help design and build a scalable "Membership Engine" - refining membership tiers, connecting programs to tangible member benefits, improving the membership experience, and helping the BIC grow and deliver value more effectively as the organization expands.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working in entrepreneurial environments and wants to help build something meaningful and mission-driven.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Growth & Partnerships

Build relationships with prospective members aligned with the BIC's mission and ecosystem.

Grow membership revenue through new member acquisition, renewals, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships.

Introduce members to additional opportunities including leadership groups, sponsorships, events, programs, and expanded membership tiers.

Help package and support sponsorship opportunities tied to BIC programs, events, and initiatives.

Identify creative ways to expand engagement, visibility, and participation across the BIC community.

Membership Engagement & Retention

Serve as a primary relationship contact for current members and partners.

Proactively engage members to better understand their goals, interests, and needs.

Help members maximize the value of their membership and participation.

Increase engagement across programs, events, leadership groups, trainings, and initiatives.

Extend communications and engagement opportunities beyond executive contacts to employees throughout member organizations.

Foster a welcoming, responsive, and relationship-oriented member experience.

Membership Strategy & Systems Development

Help refine and strengthen membership tiers, offerings, and benefits as the organization grows.

Assist in building a clear and easy-to-understand membership benefits structure tied to programs, services, events, and access opportunities.

Help launch and support new membership offerings and initiatives.

Work closely with the BIC leadership team and web/digital partners to:

Improve online membership enrollment and onboarding.

Better communicate membership benefits and opportunities.

Make the membership process more clear, welcoming, and easy to navigate.

Improve the overall member experience.

Recommend tools and processes to help track:

Member engagement

Renewals

Sponsorship activity

Upsells and grown opportunities

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are less focused on finding a perfect resume and more focused on finding the right person.

You may be a strong fit for this role if you:

Naturally build rapport and relationships quickly.

Enjoy talking with people and connecting them to opportunities.

Have strong communication and follow-through skills.

Enjoy both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

Are organized, dependable, and action-oriented.

Are comfortable learning new systems and trying new ideas.

Have a consultative, relationship-based approach rather than a high-pressure sales style.

Thrive in collaborative, entrepreneurial environments where no two days are exactly the same.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following area is helpful, but not required:

Membership organizations

Sales of business development

Partnerships or sponsorships

Community engagement

Customer success or account management

Event coordination or program management

Comfort with CRM systems, membership platforms, or related software is also helpful, though we are open to candidates who are eager to learn.

Success in This Role Will be Measured By:

Growth in membership and sponsorship revenue.

Member retention and engagement.

Increased participation across programs and events

Expansion of member relations across organizations.

Development of clearer and more scalable membership systems and processes.

Why This Role Matters

This role is central to the BIC's next phase of growth.  The person in this position will not simply manage memberships - they will help strengthen and scale a growing innovation ecosystem that support entrepreneurs, manufacturers, educators, startups, students, and industry leaders across the region.

As membership growth and revenue milestones are achieved, this role may expand from part-time to full-time, with increasing responsibility.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience ($30 - $35 per hour).
